International Master Georgi Orlov was born in Grozny, Russia. He won the Championship of the Republic of Moldova three times before immigrating to the United States (he now resides in Seattle, Washington).

Best results: 1988 Belgrade GMA Open (he scored 6 out of 9 and got a Grandmaster norm), 1994 U.S. Open Champion, 1999 Canadian Open Co-Champion, winner of the 2003 Keres Memorial with a perfect 7 - 0.

A glimpse into his enormous strength is gained when one realizes that he scored +5 (30-minute chess events) = 3 vs. the great Yasser Seirawan.
