Clement
von Franckenstein was born in Sunninghill, England, the son of the
former Austrian Ambassador to the Court of St. James. He was educated
at Eton College, and served three years as a lieutenant in the Royal
Scots Greys, in Aden, Bahrain (guarding oil in Kuwait) and Germany.
A working professional actor for thirty years, he has appeared in over
40 feature films including LIONHEART opposite Jean-Claude van Damme,
FESTIVAL IN CANNES with Anouk Aimee, SHINING THROUGH opposite Melanie Griffith, FATAL INSTINCT
for director Carl Reiner, and ROBIN HOOD-MEN IN TIGHTS for Mel Brooks.
He portrayed the President of France (Renee-Jean d'Astier) opposite
Michael Douglas and Annette Bening in THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT for
director Rob Reiner, and co-starred in EVENING STAR with Shirley
Maclaine.
His many television guest roles include BRISCOE COUNTY, E.R., STAR TREK
THE NEXT GENERATION, ARLISS, and an Emmy nominated episode of NORTHERN
EXPOSURE. He co-starred in INTRODUCING DOROTHY DANDRIDGE with Halle
Berry, and was a series regular on TITANS (NBC) MANCHESTER PREP (20th
Fox) and the hit MTV comedy reality series THE ASSISTANT as Andy Dick's
butler "Max."
His stage work includes THE GIRL ON THE VIA FLAMINIA with Sean Penn and
Meg Tilley, HARVEY opposite John Astin, CLEOPATRA AND THE NIGHT
with Tobey Maguire, and THE GOOD SOUL OF SZECHWAN by Bertold Brecht
directed by Gulu Monteiro.
Clement recently originated the role of "General Chuck Gorgidson" in
Justin Butcher's hit musical satire THE MADNESS OF GEORGE W --
STRANGELOVE REVISITED which ran for 8 months in London's West End.
He appeared in two projects for Hallmark -- the lead opposite Leah
Thompson in JANE DOE - YES, I REMEMBER IT WELL, and the 4 hour
mini-series BLACKBEARD as Admiral Joseph Pennington with Mark Umbers,
Jessica Chastain and Angus Macfayden filmed in Thailand by director
Kevin Connor. He has just completed co-starring in KIDS IN AMERICA
for Universal and Imagine Entertainment opposite Angie Everhart
starring Topher Grace, Anna Farris and Dan Fogler due out later this
year.
Away from acting, Clement is a real life Baron
(Mary Shelley adapted his family name for her
1818 literary classic) and was written up in the
July 2, 2001 issue of People
Magazine as one of America's top 50 bachelors. |
